Martin Barrows

(1823 – 1877)

Martin was born on 26 Sep 1823 in Mansfield, Tolland, Connecticut. His father, Samuel, was 27, and his mother, Lora (Parker) was 28. He was the middle child of five, all boys. Martin married Louisa Gordon Shepard on 1 July 1851 at the age of 27.

In 1850, he lived in Mansfield with his brother, Leonard, and Leonard’s wife, Emma. He was 27 and employed as a carpenter in the construction industry.

In 1860, Martin was residing in East Haddam, CT with his young wife, Louisa, and their two sons, Samuel and Ira. He was employed as a joiner.

In 1870, he and Louisa resided in Middletown with their two boys and a daughter, Ida Estella. Martin continued to work as a joiner.

He died in 1877 at the age of 54 and was buried in East Cemetery, Cromwell, Connecticut. View his record on findagrave.com.
