Treadwell was born in Huntington, NY around 1796, the youngest of six children, born to Thomas Fleet and Phebe Carman.

At the age of 25, Treadwell married Hannah Seaman of Oyster Bay in Smithtown, NY. Seven children were born during their marriage, all in Huntington.

Treadwell died in Babylon, NY on 2 January 1871 at the age of 75 and was buried in Babylon Rural Cemetery.
