Mary was born in Old Saybrook, Middlesex, Connecticut on 22 April 1708 to Edward Bull, 26, and Mary Post, 29. Mary’s 1st cousins were Ann Post and John Post, children of Abraham Post and Elizabeth Stevens.

At the age of 17, on 31 January 1726, Mary married 23-year-old George Grinnell in Old Saybrook. They had seven children:

2. Daniel (1729-1801)
3. Mary (1731-1777)
4. Anne (1734-1789)
5. Phebe (1736-1812)
6. Rebecca (1738-1812)
7. Lydia (1742-1824)

Mary was 51 when her husband died on 23 November 1759 in Old Saybrook at the age of 57. They had been married 33 years.

Mary died on 20 September 1775 in Westbrook, Connecticut, at the age of 67.
